focus.music exists to help people achieve and sustain deep focus through music that is scientifically matched to their cognitive profile. We believe that the right music, delivered at the right energy level, at the right time, can meaningfully improve how you work, study, and create.
How It Works
Unlike generic "lo-fi beats" playlists, focus.music uses a multi-factor cognitive profiling system to understand how your brain responds to different musical characteristics:
- OCEAN Personality Dimensions - Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism scores shape your baseline musical preferences.
- Brain Type Classification - 16 distinct cognitive profiles determine your optimal energy zones for sustained focus.
- Neurodiversity Sensitivity - Optional ADHD/ASD indicators fine-tune music selection for neurodiverse listeners.
The Music
Every track in the focus.music library is human-composed - written and produced by professional musicians, never AI-generated. Tracks are classified across multiple dimensions including speed, intensity, brightness, and complexity, then assigned to energy tiers (low, medium, high) for precise sequencing.
The Technology
Our slot strategy engine uses weighted scoring algorithms to select and sequence tracks in real time. Adaptive HLS streaming delivers audio at the optimal bitrate for your connection. Cross-fade transitions maintain flow between tracks without jarring interruptions.

focus.music is built on longitudinal behavioral data spanning 16 years, capturing how different cognitive profiles respond to musical characteristics during focused work. This data informs every aspect of our profiling, selection, and sequencing systems.
